Moussa Traoré

Moussa Traoré is a young painter with a background in sculpture. The gestures and flow in his paintings invite a form of discovery that, for the artist, is not about size or grandeur but about spirit.

Born on October 3, 1988, in Sikasso, Moussa Traoré graduated from the National Institute of Arts (INA) and continued his studies at the Conservatoire Balla Fasséké Kouyaté in Bamako, also known as CAMM-BFK. After participating in numerous exhibitions and residencies across Africa, he found his voice in painting. Following his series on veils (Burqas), he began exploring the theme of personified animals. Through expressive gestures and fluid movement, his brushwork reveals a deeper form that he invites the viewer to discover, one grounded in essence rather than spectacle.

Over the past two years, he has pursued his artistic research within the creative environment of Atelier Badialan 1. This experience has exposed him to a wide range of artistic practices and brought him into close contact with established artists who have become mentors. These include Amadou Sanogo, founder of the atelier, the Beninese master Ludovic Fadairo, filmmaker Abdoulaye Konaté, and Dany Leriche. He has also benefited from the insight of respected art critics such as Simon Njami, Bisi Silva, and others.
