Who we are?

GALERIE ATISS DAKAR & MAISONS AISSA DIONE: A HAVEN FOR AFRICAN ART

Founded in 1996 by Aïssa Dione during the first Dakar Biennale, Galerie Atiss Dakar is today a leading reference for contemporary African art. Since its inception, it has participated in every edition of the Dakar Contemporary Art Biennale, showcasing a wide range of artists from Senegal and across the continent. Its commitment goes far beyond the biennale: the gallery also takes part in major international art events and plays a key role in promoting African talents on the global stage.

Located in a 1960s building with high ceilings, Galerie Atiss Dakar has exhibited renowned artists such as Serigne Mbaye Camara, Soly Cissé, Camara Gueye, Jems Robert Koko Bi (Ivory Coast), and Sokey Edorh (Togo). Through collaborations with galleries from diverse backgrounds, it has invigorated the gallery profession in Africa and organized traveling exhibitions across West Africa, contributing to the emergence of new talents such as Siaka Soppo Traoré, Aliou Diack, and Ousmane Niang.

An extension of the gallery, Maisons Aïssa Dione is an elegant house-gallery nestled in a lush green setting. This refined space embodies the harmony between Senegalese art and architecture, offering a unique environment where artworks engage in dialogue with the beauty of the lush gardens. A true haven of creativity, Maisons Aïssa Dione extends Galerie Atiss Dakar’s mission by providing an immersive and intimate experience at the heart of contemporary African creation.
