The following presentation highlights four artists from very different cultural backgrounds: Ngimbi Bakambana Luve from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ousmane Bâ from Senegal, currently based in Japan, Yadichinma Ukoha Kalu, an artist from Nigeria, and MDD from Rwanda.
Our collaboration with the first two artists has been ongoing for several years, but we found it stimulating to incorporate two new talents into this exhibition. Yadichinma is currently in residence at the gallery.
This project is the result of a collaboration with curator Jareh Das for the exhibition “In a Language of My Own”, which she co-curated. Meanwhile, the reference for MDD comes from curator Nelson Niyakire. The young emerging Rwandan artist is working with Galerie Atiss Dakar for his exhibition entitled “Surrealism in the Great Lakes,” co-curated by Nelson. These two recent projects were conceived for Partcours 12 in Dakar.
